Denny Hamlin Looking Forward To Kyle Busch Sporting Joe Gibbs Racing Colors
Kyle Busch doesn’t have the best reputation with a lot of Nextel Cup fans or his fellow drivers in the garage.
But Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin surely likes the idea of Kyle Busch as his teammate.
Kyle Busch will be replaced after this season at Hendrick Motorsports by Dale Earnhardt Jr. It has been reported that Kyle Busch will take his driving talents to Gibbs, where he is expected to replace J.J. Yeley in the No. 18 car, joining Denny Hamlin and 2-time Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart in the Gibbs Nextel Cup stable.
It’s a move Denny Hamlin is a big advocate of.
“I think he would bring a lot to the team for sure,” Denny Hamlin said Friday at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, where teams were preparing for Sunday’s Nextel Cup Series Centurion Boats at the Glen. “I think his talent level, he's definitely one of the four best talents, in my opinion, in the garage. The other one being Tony so if I got two of the best four in the garage I'm pretty excited about having them as teammates. I think it's going to push me to be better and overall in the future I think he's fast and I think he's going to make us have to step up our game to keep up with him.”
Denny Hamlin doesn’t have any worries about building up a relationship with his potential new teammate. The foundation is already there.
“We have probably our best relationship of any other driver off the race track,” Denny Hamlin said. “There was a point in this season where me and him would talk about our cars more than me and Tony would and we're teammates so I think if we ever became teammates in the future I think the relationship would be really good between me and Kyle.”
